No one has ever seen God
But every now and then
There is a glimpse
Just a tiny bit of Him comes through
When words and deeds
Are centered on love
And NOT Hallmark love
Not Greco-Roman love
Not Valentine’s day pink hearts
Kind of love
But love, agape love, generous love
Where others come first
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 kind of love
Luke 6:35 kind of love
Romans 8:38-39 kind of love
Look it up, I’ll wait
Look it all up for that matter
Look at what the life of Christ depicts
And examine if you are
Anywhere in the hemisphere
Of that kind of love
I know I’m not
Daily I wrestle with grumbling
Daily I purge proud thoughts
Lord. Help. Me.
